I like James Cary, despite profoundly disagreeing with many of his views, but surely "bankers create wealth" must take the biscuit. Even right-wing nutcase Bruce Anderson in The Independent says: "Neither banks, nor bankers create wealth: they supply credit which oils the wheels of trade". Not really an argument worth basing an article on, and - as with so many right-wing arguments against new ideas - he hasn't offered any alternative, just trashed someone else's idea. Oh, and it's not a NIMBY tax because WE ALL PAY TAX ALREADY. It's only the bankers who don't - or who do but then expect it all to be returned to them when a perfectly aviodable crisis occurs.
