'The word 'post-modernism' is shorthand for three philosophical theses. Against Descartes, it is resolutely 'non-foundational': our beliefs and practices are felicitous but contingent arrangements made in the face of the changing tides and circumstances in which we find ourselves.  They do not rest on some deep unshakable ahistorical ground, especially not Descartes' ...
