Back in January we brought you the news that Satanists in
Oklahoma were attempting to erect a statue on Capitol grounds.
Conservatives had fought to preserve a monument to the Ten
Commandments in the area but in so doing made the case for
religious sculpture of all kinds in public spaces.
The legal case is stalled for the moment – a civil liberties
case is pending – but the publicity the group garnered has allowed
them to raise the $30,000 necessary for a sculptor to begin work.
