Would St Paul have voted for James 2:24, ‘So you see a person is
justified by works and not by faith alone’?
The Christian website Ship of Fools has taken a poll to find the
worst verse in the Bible. While nominations included genocide,
executions and human sacrifice all apparently mandated by God, the
winner was a restriction ascribed to Paul: ’I do not permit a woman
to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent’ (1
Timothy 2:12).
